Visitors to New York’s Central Park often pause to admire the twin-towered Majestic skyscraper at 115 Central Park West. It’s been home to such notables as Milton Berle, Walter Winchell, Marc Jacobs, and Conan O’Brien. Mob boss Lucky Luciano also lived there, as did mobster Frank Costello, who was shot in the lobby by a gunman shouting, “This is for you, Frank.”

If you want to truly visit someone who dwells in the Majestic, forget about the Big Apple. Try worship. Job 37:22 says, “With God is awesome majesty.” The Bible says, “Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, the power and the glory, the victory and the majesty” (1 Chronicles 29:11). Psalm 29:4 says, “The voice of the LORD is full of majesty.” Jude 1:25 adds, “To God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty.”

Locations on earth may convey a bit of majesty; but when we worship God, we enter into the true majesty of Him who reigns, and He is clothed with majesty. When you worship Him at home or church, don’t lose the sense of majesty that befits Him.

Worship is not passive. There is something about worship that is majestic. If it is true worship, it will bring you to attention.
