The Navigators – Leroy Eims – Daily Discipleship Devotional – The Work of Our Hands

Today’s Scripture: Exodus 28-31

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. – 2 Corinthians 9:8

Today’s passage shows Moses demonstrating humility in what could have been a very sticky situation. His brother, Aaron, is appointed high priest, and his descendants after him will fill that role. At the same time, the descendants of Moses are assigned the menial work of the Levite. They carried the Tabernacle about from place to place. They became janitors. They put up the tent. They assisted the priests in their various responsibilities, yet Moses didn’t balk at this arrangement. It is clear evidence of his humble spirit and sincere commitment to the glory of God.

Aaron’s promotion after he had been in the shadow of Moses is a clear picture of the principle that God will exalt those who abase themselves. We are told that Aaron had on his forehead a plate of pure gold engraved with the words, Holiness to the Lord. He was consecrated to God.

Aaron and his sons had no time to fritter away their days. They were involved in a great work; they were set aside to live lives of holiness unto the Lord and give the full measure of their energies to the work of God.

As priests unto God, our lives must be lived in holiness and humility–unspoiled by the lust of the flesh, disdaining the glitter and glamour of the things of this world. Let’s live life with our hands full of whatever God has given us to do, whether it is visible leadership or playing second fiddle.

Prayer

Lord, whatever You call me to do, help me to do it with my whole heart. Amen.

To Ponder

As priests unto God, our lives must be lived in both holiness and humility.
