Guideposts – Devotions for Women – Move Forward

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.—Philippians 3:13 (NIV)

To move forward and grow, you must learn to let go of the past and focus on the future. Release the pain and regrets of the past and embrace the possibilities and opportunities of the present and future.

Dear Lord, grant me the wisdom to recognize when it is time to let go and the grace to do so with love, forgiveness and compassion.

Guideposts – Devotions for Women – Gratitude Inspires Thankfulness

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.—Numbers 6:24–26 (NIV)

Gratitude and thanksgiving are often used interchangeably, but they have different meanings. Gratitude is a feeling of appreciation for the good things in our lives, while thanksgiving is an outward expression of that gratitude. Together, they create a powerful force that can transform our lives and the world.

Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness, goodness and love, and for all the blessings that grace my life.

Guideposts – Devotions for Women – Boundless Wisdom

To all perfection, I see a limit, but your commands are boundless.—Psalm 119:96 (NIV)

Despite our best efforts, we are finite creatures with limited understanding and will never be able to attain perfection on our own. When you need clarity on a situation, turn to God’s Word, which is limitless in wisdom and scope. Trust His guidance.

Lord, teach me to rely on Your strength rather than my own and to trust You will guide me in all I do.

Guideposts – Devotions for Women – The Reason to Rejoice

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!—Philippians 4:4 (NIV)

The Apostle Paul is saying that our joy should not depend on our external circumstances, which can change and be unpredictable, but rather on our relationship with God, which is unchanging and constant. We should approach problems with a positive and joyful attitude rooted in our faith in God. When we do this, we can experience the peace and comfort that comes from knowing God is with us and in control.

Lord, help me be joyful in all circumstances, focusing on You and trusting in Your righteousness.

Guideposts – Devotions for Women – The Power of God’s Spirit

So he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.”—Zechariah 4:6 (NIV)

Success and accomplishment come through the guidance of God’s Spirit. Rely on God’s strength and advice rather than your own when you seek to do great things or overcome challenges in your life. Pray for the humility to recognize your limitations and the faith to trust in God’s power.

Lord, thank You for Your grace and mercy, which sustain me.

Guideposts – Devotions for Women – Blessed Is the Believer

Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.—John 20:29 (KJV)

The adage “seeing is believing” comes from the 17th-century English clergyman Thomas Fuller whose actual statement was, “Seeing is believing, but the feeling is truth.” There is power in believing and trusting what you know to be true in your heart. Thank God for His constant love and support, even when you cannot see or feel His presence.

Almighty God, may my faith continue to grow and flourish, and may I always trust in You, even when I cannot see.

Guideposts – Devotions for Women – A Quiet Love of Life

My heart is not proud, Lord, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me. But I have calmed and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child I am content.—Psalm 131:1–2 (NIV)

Psalm 131 is a reminder to release worries about yourself with matters that are too great or difficult to handle. Instead, trust in God’s wisdom and rest in His presence. Find peace and contentment in Him.

Lord, I lay down my burdens and trust in Your goodness and provision. Quiet my mind and fill my spirit with Your peace.

Guideposts – Devotions for Women – Overcome Temptation

Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.—Hebrews 2:18 (NIV)

When you are faced with temptation, turn to Jesus for help. He can empathize with your struggles because He suffered and overcame temptation Himself. Ask Him to fill your heart with the desire to live a life that honors Him, and be a light of His love and grace in this world.

Lord, I know You understand. Thank You for giving me strength and guidance when I am struggling. Thank You for giving me the help I need.

Guideposts – Devotions for Women – For Such a Time as This

For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”—Esther 4:14 (NIV)

As you reflect on this verse, remember that you are called to be faithful to God’s plan for your life. Trust that He will use your gifts and talents for His glory and guide you toward fulfilling your purpose. Like Esther, you can be confident that God has placed you in your current position “for such a time as this.”

Dear Lord, please give me the courage to step out in faith, just as Esther did, and fulfill my purpose.
