Campus Crusade for Christ; Bill Bright – Happy are the Pure in Heart

“Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8, KJV).

Jesus had a flashpoint against the hypocrisy of the Pharisees. They professed to be something they were not. Externally they did everything right, adhering meticulously to all the details of the law, yet He referred to them as being “whitewashed tombs” internally, and being “full of dead men’s bones.” Thus, obviously, the “pure in heart” did not apply to the Pharisees, according to His view of them.

In John 14:21, Jesus says, “The one who obeys Me is the one who loves Me and because he loves Me My Father will love him and I will too and I will reveal Myself to him.” That is another way of saying what He said in the verse in Matthew above. The pure in heart shall see God because He will reveal Himself to those who obey, and only the pure in heart obey.

If God seems impersonal to you, far off and unreachable, you may want to look into the mirror of your heart to see if anything there would grieve or quench the Spirit, short- circuiting His communication with you.

You may be sure of this promise of God: The pure in heart will experience the reality of His presence within.

If for some reason this is not your experience, God has made provision whereby you can have vital fellowship with Him. Breathe spiritually. Exhale by confessing yours sins, and inhale by appropriating the fullness of God’s Spirit. Begin to delight yourself in the Lord and in His Word, asking God to give you a pure heart, and you may be assured that God will become a reality to you.

I called upon the Lord and cried to my God; He heard my voice out of His temple (heavenly dwelling place), and my cry came before Him, into His [very] ears. —Psalm 18:6

God loves you very much and wants to help you, but you need to ask Him to. A man told me recently that when he feels overwhelmed, he lifts up one hand toward heaven and says, “Come get me, Jesus.” God hears the faintest cry of your heart, so stop trying to do everything on your own and ask Him for help. You may not think that God cares about something as simple as your health, but He does. He cares about everything that concerns you—the big as well as the small.

He wants you healthy and whole, and He is willing to help, if you’ll just let Him. Pray to Him to help you find the spiritual strength you need to make any necessary changes in your life. God’s grace is always available. As we choose to do what is right and lean on Him to give us strength, His power enables us to follow through and experience victory.

Presidential Prayer Team; J.K. – Positional and Practical Relationship

Blameless…how is that possible? If you are honest with yourself, you can see where you go amiss in so many ways. But don’t let this condition dishearten you. Old Testament believers like David wrote of his own blamelessness: “I have kept the ways of the Lord…I was blameless before him.” (Psalm 18:21, 23) He based this thought on his motives for his actions. He sought to live God’s way and reject wickedness…but if he did not, he confessed and sacrificed to have restoration.

You shall be blameless before the Lord your God. Deuteronomy 18:13

Sacrifices are not required today because Jesus was your sacrifice on the cross. He suffered the punishment for all the times you have fallen – and will fall short – of God’s commands for you. Christ has positioned Himself between you and the Father; His view of you is through the spotless, blameless Savior. The practical part of this relationship is that you live with ethical and moral uprightness. The Lord desires it of you.

Today’s cultural climate in government, and maybe even at your workplace, abounds in wickedness and selfish desires. Pray that you would not be drawn into it. Trust God. Then intercede for those who lead…that they may seek the Lord and walk blameless before Him.

Julius Caesar is purported to have said, “There is no fate worse than being continually under guard, for it means you are always afraid.” Today, many corporations are concerned about cyber security, seeking passcodes and specialized programs to build strong walls of protection. Even the U.S. Department of Defense has implicated the Chinese military for hacking into top-security sites. Some Americans, certain of a coming calamity, store up food, water and weapons.

The way of the Lord is a stronghold to the blameless, but destruction to evildoers. Proverbs 10:29

Don’t let fear force you into a fortress mentality. Instead focus on the attributes and promises of God: shelter, shield, safeguard, protector, sanctuary, and a bulwark never failing. Then find freedom in going about your day. Today’s verse reminds you that walking in the Lord’s way assures you will have the defenses you need.

When you pray today, thank Him for the provisions He has made for you to live and walk in His ways, and ask that He would continue to guide and direct you on His path. Then pray for America’s leadership – President Obama, Congress and the courts – to find the Lord and know His ways, then to walk and govern in alignment with Him and His ways.

It’s not unusual to see a lawyer in a courtroom, but normally you would expect the lawyer to be wearing a suit. But in a Pembroke Pines, Florida courtroom recently, attorney Mark Dickson was attired in prison garb. Dickson wasn’t there to represent anyone, but was appearing at a bond hearing after being charged with stealing $800,000 from his clients. Unfortunately, it’s not just attorneys who sometimes let the people down who trust them most. It’s physicians, politicians, plumbers, and even the preacher on occasion.

This God – his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true. Psalm 18:30

David, who wrote Psalm 18, was no stranger to betrayal – and he had played roles as both perpetrator and victim. Perhaps you have, too. But Scripture shows you what to do when your inclination is to strike out in revenge or wallow in defeat: focus on the One whose way is perfect. He will always be true and never fail you.

Today, pray for power to keep your mind and heart oriented to Christ, and ask Him to guide your nation’s leaders to follow His perfect way also…so they can discover Him, and not let the American people down.
