Walt Disney personally recruited the late Dean Jones in 1965 for a role in the movie That Darn Cat. The rising young star appeared to have everything the world could offer, but he was depressed and suicidal. “It was a fast track life,” said Jones. “I was making $50,000 a week. I had the Ferraris and beautiful women and all the rest of what I thought would satisfy my life. And it was empty. Really empty.”
Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like.
Luke 6:47
But the still small voice of the Lord told him his current lifestyle “will never satisfy you.” After a drunk-driving accident nearly took his life, Jones cried out to Him: “I’ve done everything in this world I thought would make me happy and it doesn’t work. I have everything and I have nothing.” Jones said “yes” to God and true peace flooded his heart.
The Bible is the only true foundation for life. Thank your Heavenly Father for those godly role models in Hollywood past and present who seek Him daily. Pray also that your national and local leaders will base their lives and decisions on the truth of God’s Word.
