Men feverishly rushed to California in the l840s looking for gold and silver. They sacrificed their lives to search for the precious metals. Miners discovered copper in the mountains of Arizona, and today companies run 24-7 to bring it out of the ground.

Seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures.

Proverbs 2:4

If only the search for knowledge of the Word of God would be as fervent. In today’s verse, Solomon had begun to teach his son of the treasure found in the commandments of God, wanting him to be attentive to the wisdom and to incline his heart to the understanding that would come with seeking it from the Lord. With a series of if-then statements, Solomon gave Spirit-filled consequences for valuing the wisdom of God. If you seek it, then you will understand the fear of the Lord (v.5) and understand righteousness, justice and equity, every good path. (v.9) When wisdom comes into your heart, you will be delivered from the way of evil, from men of perverted speech. (v. 12)

Let 2016 be the year you fervently seek His wisdom in the Bible. Intercede for this nation and its leaders – that they would realize that their decisions can only be good ones when God’s wisdom is in their midst.
