Famous evangelist Billy Graham has been privy to some of the most important decisions in the nation’s recent history. Every president since World War II has met with him to seek counsel on professional and personal matters – from war, to the existence of Heaven, to marital affairs. Two presidents, Johnson and Nixon, offered him government positions that Graham politely refused. Instead, through his crusades and messages, Graham has provided spiritual guidance to hundreds of millions of people.

Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed.

Proverbs 15:22

Today’s verse focuses on the importance of wise counsel. Plans made alone often fail, but the discernment of a Godly advisor helps them to succeed. Having counselors and advice can confirm or deny how your plans line up with God’ Word.

As you pray today, ask God to send Christian friends to hold you accountable and help guide you in all of your decisions. Petition also for the nation’s leaders to seek Godly counsel from people like Billy Graham to help guide the country back to a place of spiritual strength and favor with God.
