Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
Imagine a giant football stadium filled with one of every kind of animal on earth—including one human being. As you scan that massive crowd, could you immediately find the one human? Eventually, yes. But the point is that man is one of a multitude of creatures that God created—except for one thing.
Man is the only creature God created in His image, male and female. All creatures are special as part of God’s creation, but humans are unique because we are made in His image. Why did God do that? Because He wanted stewards to oversee and prosper His creation on earth. That meant communication and a sharing of values and fellowship. Yes, sin darkened that potential. But Christ, “the last Adam” (1 Corinthians 15:45) has restored the potential. All that remains is for the empty part of man to be filled again with the fullness of God through Christ by His Spirit.
Make sure you have reconnected with God through Christ! You were created to be filled with His presence.
There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of every man which cannot be filled by any created thing, but only by God the Creator, made known through Jesus Christ.
