Joyce Meyer – God’s Love Gives us Confidence

In this [union and communion with Him] love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him], because as He is, so are we in this world.- 1 John 4:17

No matter how we feel, we magnify God above all else and step out in faith to do whatever He asks us to do.

We never have to be afraid of God. We should have reverential fear, meaning a respectful awe, of Him, but He does not want us to lack confidence when we face Him. The Bible tells us to come “fearlessly and confidently and boldly” to the throne of grace and make our requests known (Heb. 4:16). We cannot operate in boldness and fear at the same time. We may “feel” fear, but we must not bow down or give in to it; we can approach God with confidence.

In our society today we have an epidemic of insecurity. The world is full of people who lack confidence. Our confidence is to be placed in Christ alone and in His love for us. We are to put no confidence in the flesh, but to be bold and courageous in Christ. Begin to believe today that from now on you will step out in faith to do whatever He asks you to do. Don’t draw back in fear and timidity, but go all the way through to the finish of each task.

Love God Today: “Father, deliver me from insecurity and a lack of confidence. Help me be bold and courageous.”

Joyce Meyer – God’s Timing

Except the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; except the Lord keeps the city, the watchman wakes but in vain.—Psalm 127:1

During the three years of Jesus’ earthly ministry, people thought He was crazy. His own brothers were embarrassed by Him, and in an effort to save their reputation they told Him He needed to go somewhere else and do His works. If He was unwilling to do that, they told Him to take action and stop doing His works in secret. They tried to convince Him it was time to show Himself and His works to the world. They wanted Jesus to impress the people with what He could do.

He responded to them by saying, “My time (opportunity) has not come yet” (John 7:6).

How many of us could show that type of self-control? If you could do the miracles that He could do and were being made fun of and challenged to show your stuff, what would you do? Would you wait until you absolutely knew that it was the right time sanctioned by God?

It is good to have plans, and I believe we should plan boldly and aggressively, but we must be wise enough to know that our plans will ultimately fail without God. We must learn to wait for God’s plans to develop. True boldness moves in God’s timing.

Lord, I want to have a plan for my life

Moses knew he was about to die. His days of guiding the people of Israel across the deserts to the edge of the Promised Land were complete. At the command of the Lord, he commissioned the man who’d shown the boldness of a general and the humility of a dove to take his place – Joshua.

He will not leave you or forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6

They would soon enter unknown territory…thrust into cultures they’d not experienced before, and among people that could make them fearful. Moses, ever the leader, encouraged Joshua and the people. He reassured them that God would be with them, and they could hold onto their courage.

You, too, might feel there’s unfamiliar ground under your feet in America. You may long for God to give some kind of reassurance that He is near, and sometimes He does. But that’s the exception. He wants you to learn to trust His promise that He hasn’t left you or forsaken you. With that acknowledgment, you can abandon fear and be strong and of good courage.

Be bold today! Take the confident assurance of His presence into your prayer time as you intercede for America and its leaders. And remember, “fear not” isn’t a choice – it’s a commandment!
